2010 Schedule

Well…here we go again, Winter has offered up it’s last gasp of cold and snow and Spring is fighting it’s way toward summer. Before you know it we’ll be mowing and pruning and planting and probably complaining about all the yard work. We’re never happy, it seems, with whatever season is upon us. At the Farmstead it is time to look to the Summer of 2010, and our upcoming concert series. We believe that Music Director, Jane Berkner, has done another wonderful job in compiling our summer schedule. We had great attendance at the concerts in 2009, and, blew the doors off at the last concert of the season in August as we filled the barn and the deck to enjoy TIME FOR THREE (tf3). Let’s do it again! You should make plans to come out and join us this summer. All concerts are on Sundays and all are wonderful. Please see the ‘Event Info’ page for times and details.
Here is our 2010 Music at the Farmstead SUMMER CONCERT SERIES program:

Sunday, July 25 Idle Twittering: A Flock of Flutes

French Flutist Louis Fleury (1878–1926) referred to music of the 19th century as “idle twittering”. What’s the antidote? A flute group that not only twitters the Romantic, but chirps the Baroque, tweets the Modern and whistles some Jazz. A flock of flutes from Northeastern Ohio joins forces for a well rounded, tuneful and tootful evening. It’s a tribute to flute music through the ages on flutes of all shapes and sizes with George Pope, Jane Berkner, Mary Kay Ferguson, Diane McCloskey, Janet Becker, Linda White, and Rich Shanklin.
Sunday, August 15 Paragon Brass Quintet

The University of Akron’s world -renowned brass quintet is known for their flawless playing and unusual concerts. Paragon will present a mix of classical and contemporary works and, at the same time, introduce you to their slightly skewed and hilarious take on concert performance. It’s sure to be a delightful and entertaining musical evening in the barn !
Now that the schedule is available you should make your plans early. Call some friends and pick your dates. Then call in and purchase your season tickets, and get ready for some relaxed summer evenings picnicking and enjoying wonderful music at the beautiful Conrad Botzum Farmstead in your own Cuyahoga Valley National Park!
